Received her masters’ degree in biomedical engineering at the
Universidade NOVA de Lisboa and in 2017 she obtained her PhD degree with her dissertation entitled “Active and Pleasant Ageing supported by technology” at the University of Twente. Her research focus is on personalized interventions for promotion of physical activity in the prevention and self-management of chronic diseases. Miriam is the contact person of the RRD team within the SmartWork project.


Received his masters’ degree in biomedical engineering at the University of Twente and did his PhD research on surface electromyography. In 2010 Hermie became Full Professor in Telemedicine. Additional professional functions include: director of the strategic research program “Personalized Health Technology” at the University of Twente, Editor in chief of the Journal of Back and Muscoloskeletal Rehabilitation and Past-President and fellow of the Int. Society of Electromyography and Kinesiology.

Lex van

Has a background in communication science. He completed his PhD degree at the University of Twente with a dissertation on user-centred design for personalization. Lex holds a research line in the area of requirements engineering for telemedicine services. His expertise include user-centered design, requirements engineering, information design, personalization, privacy by design, and designing for trust.

Harm op
den Akker

Holds a degree in technical computer science (BSc) and human media interaction (MSc) obtained from the University of Twente in the Netherlands. In 2014, Harm obtained his PhD degree with his thesis on “Smart Tailoring of Real-Time Physical Activity Coaching Systems”. His current research focus lies on developing and evaluating innovative ICT services that improves the human-computer interaction element of eHealth systems through state of the art AI and personalization.

van de Kamp

Studied Technical Medicine at the University of Twente. He graduated in 2017 in the field of wearable home monitoring in children with asthma. His research interest lies in finding the right sensors and signal analysis techniques to be able to monitor exactly that information that benefits both patients and healthcare professionals. Additionally, he works as technical physician at the hospital Medisch Spectrum Twente.
