SmartWork keynote @ BIA Conference

Last week, Dr Otilia Kocsis, from the University of Patras, delivered the opening keynote session at the International Conference on Biomedical Innovations and Applications, which took place in Varna, Bulgaria, 8-10 November 2019. The conference was organised by the Technical University of Varna, IEEE Section Bulgaria and IEEE Bulgarian CAS/SSC Joint Chapter.

The keynote, entitled: “AI and Active Ageing: short- and long-term health risk prediction empowers work ability sustainability for older workers”, featured the SmartWork project, as did a paper presented by Dr Kocsis at one of the BIA Technical Sessions, entitled: “Coping with missing data in an unobtrusive monitoring system for office workers”.

The second keynote was delivered by Prof. Ivan Ganchev from the University of Limerick, Ireland and featured a COST project: “Creating Smart Habitat for the Elderly through Indoor Living Space Improvement: The SHELD-ON Approach”. It is about home and office furniture and home appliance ergonomics to support active ageing and elderly people (http://www.sheld-on.eu).

The BIA Conference was an excellent opportunity for the two complementary projects to share learning with each other as well as with the international audience of attendees from Russia, Iran, India, Ireland and England among others.
